From 21 to 24 September 2017 ca. 110 galleries and institutions from 27 countries presented their artists and programs in the Marx Halle. With the special presentations ZONE1, Solo & Sculpture, Focus: Hungary and Nordic Highlights, viennacontemporary underlined its significance not only as a market-place but also as a location for the presentation of young and established artists and for the information on the development of the art scene in the focus countries of the program.
The accompanying events such as the film and video program as part of Cinema, the Talks and discussions in the talks area and art-education with the guided tours on selected subjects, and the Family program, provided enjoyable and uncomplicated access to art for all age groups.
With the #artbookstore hosted by Verlag für moderne Kunst and a high-end culinary offer by Viennese top restaurants IKI, MOTTO, and Zum Schwarzen Kameel, viennacontemporary offered a highly enjoyable experience for all.
During the fair week, 18–24 September, a multitude of events were organized across town to offer an even broader view on the contemporary art scene with curated by_vienna, Open Galleries Night, and Parallel Vienna as well as cross-disciplinary events linking art with science and tech. The Humanities Festival, the second part of the series “Art & Science – Bridging Two Cultures” in cooperation with IMBA and the first Cultural Hackathon co-organized with PIONEERS took place in addition.
