September is around the corner, bringing the tenth edition of Austria’s top art fair, viennacontemporary. But that’s not all—Vienna and the surrounding region will host several other major art festivals around the same time, making it a late summer art hub.

We’ve got everything you need to dive into Vienna’s vibrant art scene, with joint events from our festival partners and even a combo ticket with Parallel Vienna available.

 

Curated by

Since 2009, the gallery festival Curated by has developed into a central and indispensable event for contemporary art in Vienna, which – supported by selected Vienna-based galleries – has become an international showcase for the city. The focus on content through the annual theme, the international orientation through the choice of curators and artists, the unusual format as a festival, and the collaborative shoulder-to-shoulder approach of the galleries make Curated by a unique contemporary art project with international reach.

Parallel Vienna

Parallel Vienna provides a platform for artists to present their creations and engage with a diverse audience. Visitors can explore thought-provoking installations, interact with artists, and immerse themselves in the dynamic atmosphere of the contemporary art scene. This year, Parallel Vienna takes place from 11-15 September at the beautiful Otto Wagner Pavillion.

Various Others

Just a four-hour train ride away in the Bavarian capital Munich, VARIOUS OTHERS, run by galleries, artist-run spaces, and various other institutions, welcomes you from 5-15 September to discover the rich diversity of the city’s art venues. VARIOUS OTHERS is organized by the association VFAMK e.V. The “Verein zur Förderung der Außenwahrnehmung Münchens als Kunststandort” is a non-profit association that promotes contemporary art in Munich and its international perception.

 

Noise Media Art

Turkey’s first international art fair focused on media art, Noise_Media Art, aims to bring together leading artists, galleries, institutions, and art professionals around the axis of art and technology. Born out of the need for an international event on media art, the fair promises a world where technology, art, and music meet on a common ground. The international art fair focused on media art organized by Piksel Creative Solutions, will take place at Palais Festetics between 12 – 15 September.

 

Musiktheatertage Wien

From 18 to 28 September 2024, MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN offers the most recent works of music theatre, making the ecological future a center part. Alongside guest performances from Germany, Belgium, Lithuania, and Ukraine, the productions present mesmerizing contemporary and genre-defying concepts.

 

Klima Biennale Wien

The Klima Biennale Wien (Vienna Climate Biennale) is dedicated to the challenge of making the highly complex and acute issues of global change, the climate crisis, the extinction of species, and the effects on the human-natural fabric tangible and tangible. To this end, it is cooperating with viennacontemporary for this year’s VCT STATEMENT: ENERGY Talk: Nexus Thinking – Energy, Future, and Sustainability in Art. On Friday, 13  September at 3:30 pm, viennacontemporary, in collaboration with Klima Biennale Wien, will examine the influence of courageous and critical art that questions artistic, political, and social conventions and can provide new answers to the energy crisis, the future, and sustainability.
